Queen of the nappies

When I was little, my parents took us to a holiday camp. There was a fancy dress competition and my parents decided to enter me as the queen of the nappies. I was decked out in a home-made crown, cape and sceptre and promptly won first place!

The next best-placed child was dressed as the fairy soap baby, which involved wearing a nappy and carrying a bar of soap, so maybe my victory was less than a triumph; but these were the days of rations.
