Margaret McLeod Campbell was born around 1914 and lived in Glasgow. She was a dancer, specialising in the demonstration of ball room dancing. She also worked as a typist for the Glasgow Herald. She met my father when he came over in a tea shop and asked if she’d like to have a cup of tea with him.
They married on March 17th 1941. I was born in 1944 and my father was posted to Germany in March 1946.
Eventually my mother and I were able to join him in Germany and my brother, Sandy, was born over there in Hamburg.
One foot note: my father never had a middle name, but gave himself a G for Gordon when he married Margaret, because he did not want her to have WC engraved on her wedding ring!
